Weld to Work a 10-Week Programme
Weld to Work is designed to provide an entry into careers in fabrication and welding. This programme will offer 6 selected participants the opportunity to acquire fundamental welding skills, and upon successful completion of the course gain practical work experience through a short placement with local employers.
Over the course of the 10-week programme, participants will attend Dumfries and Galloway College one day per week from January 14th to March 25th. College sessions will focus on core health and safety requirements and practical welding instruction using a simulator. Participants will progress to learning welding techniques across four standard positions with test pieces, before applying these skills to real fabrication and welding tasks. These will include simple test projects and, where appropriate, company‑specific assignments.
To enable participation in the programme we require engagement at an informal information session being held on the 7th January running from 10am – 2pm. This session is an opportunity to find out more about the programme as well as an informal selected process.
